Boston.com to Deliver Video Content to blinkx

Boston, Mass. - OCT. 02, 2006 - Boston.com, one of the nation’s largest regional websites and the online home of The Boston Globe, New England Cable News (NECN), and New England Sports Network (NESN), today announced a content agreement with blinkx, the Web’s largest video search engine.

Under this agreement, hundreds of online news, sports, and entertainment segments from Boston.com will be indexed and made fully searchable directly from www.blinkx.tv each month.  Users will be able to go the blinkx site and find specific Boston.com video content using specific word-identification search technology.

“blinkx is proud to be adding another principal news source to our site which already features content from leading sources like The New York Times, Washington Post and Business Week. The agreement with Boston.com is another step towards cementing blinkx.tv as the foremost destination for video search,” Suranga Chandratillake, CTO and Founder, blinkx said.

blinkx’s advanced speech recognition technology can automatically index and accurately transcribe the video content from Boston.com. This allows users to search for specific keywords and delve right into the clips at the precise point of relevance to the search.

“This relationship with blinkx is another example of our commitment to expanding the various media we use to inform, entertain and engage our audience,” Stephanie Shore, director of marketing said.  “We look forward to providing our compelling video content to blinkx’s vast audience.”
