Coveted Award Recognizes Innovation and Significance of New 'blinkx it'
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - February 07, 2007 - blinkx, the world’s largest video search engine, today announced that it has been honored with the prestigious DEMOgod award by DEMO 07 conference organizers. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20070207/SFW013 )
The DEMOgod distinction honors only 10 out of 68 DEMO 07 presenters, recognizing “their ability to clearly articulate the significance of their debuting technologies despite the pressures of a jaded audience, a make-or- break level of expectation, and a glowing red six-minute count down clock.” DEMOgods are selected by DEMO Executive Producer Chris Shipley with input from the production team, an inner circle of DEMO alumni and the reactions of the DEMO audience.
During DEMO 07, blinkx unveiled “blinkx it,” a free and simple tool that enables bloggers to insert relevant video streams into their blogs, and casual website builders to spice up their sites with video.
“It is truly an honor to be selected as a DEMOgod,” said Suranga Chandratillake, CTO and Founder of blinkx. “The conference attracts an enormously influential audience, and we’re thrilled to be recognized for innovation at a show that has seen the debut of Java and the Handspring device in previous years.”
As the pioneer in video search technology, blinkx has built a reputation as the smartest way to search new forms of online content, such as video and podcasts. blinkx uses advanced speech recognition technology that delivers results that are more accurate and reliable than standard metadata-based keyword searches.
blinkx is the world’s most comprehensive video search engine. Today, blinkx has indexed more than 7,000,000 hours of audio, video, viral and TV content, and made it fully searchable and available on demand. blinkx’s founders set out to solve a significant challenge—as TV and Garage Video on the Web explode, keyword-based search technologies only scratch the surface. blinkx’s patented search technologies listen to—and even see—the Web, helping users enjoy a breadth and accuracy of search results not available elsewhere. In addition, blinkx powers the video search for many of the world’s most frequented sites. blinkx is a privately-held company based in San Francisco and London.
