Report: Women dominate the social media sphere
Women are taking over the social media sphere, according to research complied by FinanceOnline, which combined research from Pew Research Center, Nielsen and Burst Media.
FinanceOnline found that women use social media more often and in more ways than men. Pinterest is the leading site for women, with 33 percent of U.S. women accessing the site, compared to only 8 percent of men.
The amount of women who access social media from their smartphones is also on the rise. Around 46 percent of women access the services from their smartphones, compared to only 43 percent of men.
While women dominate Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ: FB), Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter, men dominate LinkedIn. Around 24 percent of men access LinkedIn, compared to only 19 percent of women.
